MATERIALS

photo:

1-4 pictures of yourself or someone else.. i recommend if its your first time, doing a self portrait.. finding several will just give you more choices... i often choose one that has high contrast.... get one that really shows your (their) face, but also feels like you (them) .. don't trip too hard... even an mediocre photo can become a spectacular piece of art!

canvas:

12"X12" - 24"X24" any size in between, rectangle or square. I prefer the gallery style canvas that has a thick side, but whatever moves you works.

color list:

Acrylic paints:
**titanium white,
titanium buff white ( off white)

*azo yellow
*dairylide yellow
naples yellow
gold (metallic)
cadmium orange
*pyrrol red
*cadmium red deep hue
quinacridone magenta
**dioxazine purple
*cobalt
*phthalo blue
phthalo green (blue shade)

*any variety of the primary colors, one cool and one warm.. and i if your not sure on the difference, the art store staff will
**i tend to use a lot of these in my work

And mostly just get a bunch of colors you like :)

brushes:

a small, medium and large, the large should be around 2.54 cm (n inch!) or bigger

other:

medium gel gloss (medium is my recommendation, deviation according to preference is completely acceptable)... medium also comes in satin and matte, again your preference is what you should follow! The thicker stuff works better in the style of painting we will be doing.

If you have an easel at home, bring it !

I will also be providing water containers and rags, i :-)

I recommend University Art at 2601 J street (http://www.universityart.com/sac.htm). Tell them you are taking a workshop with me and they will give you a student discount! Love those guys
